Turn heads at the races (in the best way!) with stunning Hemant & Nandita!

Its spring and with spring comes; races! This week we share some quick tips on what to wear and not to wear to the races. And most excitingly; we take a look at how Quirkee Birds and our latest label Hemant & Nandita can contribute to your carnival outfit!

STYLING TIPS FOR THE RACES

■ Balance should be your mantra! In 2012 Sydney Carnival Style Ambassador, Kelly Smythe, said “If you opt for a revealing neckline, then the hemline should be below the knee. It’s all about balance when dressing for the races”. This is still key!

■ Don’t wear shorts! Even of they are smart “walk” shorts, a day at the races is not the time to look like you are about to step out onto the golf course.

■ Dare to be feminine and flowy. Pastels, light flowing fabrics and pretty floral are a great trackside trend now.

■ Fit and flare shapes. Tighter around the top and flared out at the waist is a great shape this racing season.

■ Dare to wear: Color! When it comes to Cup Day it’s all about colours! Prints and contrasting bags are definitely the go. Complement with sophisticated, well thought through shoes and accessories.

About the race season, Vogue Australia said in an article last week:

“...this is a time to embrace the best of spring; think florals, lace and colours. There is more leeway with shoes here than in autumn; you can wear sandals, pumps, wedges or open-toed heels or flats. If you think you will be walking over grass, do keep in mind that a thicker heel is a more practical option. There is also more allowance for hats, but remember it needs to work with the rest of your outfit. Straw is the classic choice and stay away from autumn carnival mainstays like felt and wool...”
